Community Quilting
WomanEwer
As part of the International Women’s Day Program at the Rose Lipman Building, we invite you to contribute towards a communal piece of art.
Led by WomanEwer, this space is open for women to connect, make something new, get creative, learn a new skill and meet other women from the community. No experience needed, just come along, have a cup of tea and make something with your hands!
We will be using old fabric, recycled clothes and other existing materials. Donations welcome! This final piece will be exhibited for a performance night on the 28th March to celebrates womanhood, female empowerment and to trace women’s stories.
The performance “I have a Bruise” by WomanEwer reflects these aspects – the sewing of leftover scraps into garments and coverlets test women’s resourcefulness to use what comes to hand to provide for themselves and their families, even to the using of rags to clean and absorb menstrual blood.
