Under the artistic direction of Laura Kenyon, WomanEwer will be rehearsing their latest show “J’ai un Bleu // I have a Bruise” at The Rose Lipman, Haggerston. Thanks to Mill Co’s support, the company will be developing the piece in their main hall to Premiere J’ai un Bleu at RichMix, Shoreditch on the 23rd and 24th February 2024 at 7pm.

‘J’ai un Bleu’ is a 55 min live performance based on real life stories, performed by five professional female dancers who are all survivors of sexual abuse. The work addresses sensitive issues that can be challenging, and at the same time it celebrates womanhood, survival and strength, advocating for women to have their own voice.

This work is supported by Rape Crisis and Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC). Safeguarding provision is integral to Laura Kenyon’s mission and all performances are attended by a trained counsellor engaged by the company to refer any affected audience members to appropriate service providers.

Laura Kenyon has established a creative process using guided improvisation which provides a safe environment for performers and creative collaborators to contribute to the devising process. This approach informs the way the company’s workshops are delivered alongside performances.
