Mental Health Reimagined: Beyond the Medical Model

How (Not) To Heal

Tuesday 3rd February 7:30pm
How (Not) To Heal is a brand new alternative mental health community that reimagines the mental health system, beyond the medical model, beyond diagnosis, beyond the entire Western framing of distress as pathological.

Hosted by writer Rose Cartwright, author of Pure and The Maps We Carry, How (Not) To Heal will invite experts in psychiatry, therapy and psychedelics to take a sceptical but balanced look at healing culture.

For this first event, Rose will be speaking to psychiatrist and podcast host, Dr Alex Curmi, about whether psychiatry is a profession in crisis and about the value and limitation of diagnosis. She’ll also be speaking to psychedelic research therapist Ashleigh Murphy Beiner about her clinical trial research into magic mushrooms, OCD and complex trauma. Rose will also be giving a personal talk about her experiences of OCD advocacy and underground psychedelic therapy.

Please come down and help create a supportive, compassionate community. We’d love to see you there.
